Casa Abrego Club

Founded in 1956 by civic-minded women to preserve the historic Casa Abrego

Casa Abrego Club

Casa Abrego Adobe

The Casa Abrego Club is a private, ladies, social club.  Members enjoy lunches, dinners, cocktail parties, monthly activities and special events. Members are also involved with the preservation of the Casa Abrego adobe, as well as other historically significant adobes in the Monterey area. The Club is one of fifty-five historic sites along Monterey's two mile Path of History. As part of this, the Abrego Club also participates in Monterey's famed Christmas in the Adobes each year. It is at that time, that the Casa Abrego adobe is opened to the public for touring.

A group of interested women learned that the historic Abrego adobe, originally built by Don Jose Abrego in 1834, was to be razed to make way for a parking lot. They formed an organizing committee and raised monies to purchase and restore the building.  Due to their efforts, the adobe was saved and the Casa Abrego Club was incorporated in 1956. In 1957, the Club opened for luncheon and the adobe became known as a charming place, with a very special ambiance, that embodied the good taste and the warm spirit of Monterey's historic past.

The Casa Abrego Club is a private, members only, women's  club. Membership is by invitation. To access the Members pages, log-in at the top of the page.
